His close analysis of dozens of films, such as The Road to Ruin, Modern Motherhood, One Way Ticket to Hell, and The Wages of Sin demonstrates that these films were more than simply "bad" movies. Schaefer begins by exploring the unique mode of production of exploitation movies, their distribution, and the outrageous exhibition practices that were rooted in the traditions of sideshows and carnivals. Bold! Daring! Shocking! True! is a meticulously researched, interdisciplinary study that is informed by a wide range of sources-including both mainstream and industry newspapers and periodicals, archival accounts, personal interviews, and the films themselves. In the first full-scale history of these low-budget movies of decades past, Eric Schaefer reveals how this pioneering form of "trash film" purveyed the forbidden thrills of explicit sexual behavior, drug use, and vice that the mainstream movie industry could not show. Unashamed nudists, high-flying hopheads, brazen strippers, vicious vice lords, and high school girls who find themselves "in trouble" comprise the population of exploitation films.

I do freelance technical writing work from time to time, and am currently working with author Bethany Hegedus as her author assistant and helping run her Courage to Create program. It was a good way to dip my toe into the publishing world. And while she didn’t pick those up, she did ask me to write Triceratops Would Not Be a Good Ninja. A friend referred me to her editor, who invited me to send her a couple picture book manuscripts. But my first book was a Work For Hire project for Capstone, published for the school and library market. I started my writing career with short stories, and have had a handful published. I didn’t get paid a thing, but I was super happy! I had my first short story published in 2005. How many years have you been in publishing? No one knows who he or she is – we only know Max is a team of two successful romance authors. (Is that his hand down his pants?) I thought the overwhelmingly positive reviews might be manufactured and the product of the brilliant marketing tactic of the mysterious Max Monroe. I had read the internet hoopla in romancelandia about Tapping – the first book in the series – but the cover and title lean towards the cheesy. I am late to the Max Monroe and Billionaire Bad Boy series party. I conceded and shacked up with the cat downstairs to uninhibitedly enjoy Tapping the Billionaire, and it is hilarious, a great abdominal workout and a kick-ass, heartfelt love story. I honestly could not control my outbursts of giggling and cackling, and I literally LOLed until my husband gave me the stink eye and requested I leave the bedroom so he could go to sleep. I am NOT a demonstrative reader – until now. Huh? I cry silently, laugh internally and rarely even alter my stoic facial expression when I read. Until Max Monroe’s Tapping the Billionaire, I had never been asked to read elsewhere because my reading was disturbing someone. 6/7/2023 0 Comments Middlemarch penguin classicsThis music streaming giant hosts a number of audiobooks on their service, and have even entered the game by producing their own series of high-quality, professional audiobooks.
